Thomas Franks celebrates winning two fantastic awards at last night’s Caterer event. The Catey awards, held by The Caterer magazine and famously dubbed hospitality’s biggest awards ceremony, recognise the best of the best in the hospitality and food service industry.
The privately-owned and founder-led contract catering company Thomas Franks was recognised not once but twice at this prestigious event. It took home the Best Employer Award first for their focus on ‘supporting people, their families and communities, both financially and in relation to their health and wellbeing’. Thomas Franks was also praised for extending support services and launching its very own Mental Health Academy with the aim of making real, lasting change towards the understanding of mental wellbeing in the workplace and the hospitality industry in particular.
Andi Hirons, People Director at The Grand Brighton and Cateys judge, commented ‘Thomas Franks is certainly on the front foot, setting an outstanding example of how to approach business in the current climate’.
Just as the celebrations were getting started for the Thomas Franks team, they were even more delighted when Founder and CEO Frank Bothwell was called up to accept the Foodservice Caterer Award. Joining the illustrious list of previous winners, Frank was commended for maintaining the original family ethos of Thomas Franks while sustaining growth, even during the difficulties of the pandemic.
The company’s strong values, commitment to people, establishing the right blend of talent, motivation and leadership and its industry-leading environmental focus were all highlighted. Judge Chris Stern, Managing Director of Stern Consultancy commented ‘Frank has built a very different kind of catering company where, although it’s clearly a profitable business, doing good sits at its heart’ .
